PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH. WELLINGTON DEFEATS OTAGO. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 7. The Pl-uriket Shield match, Otago v. Wellington, was continued to-day. Wellington, with 5 wickets down for 209. continued their innings. The remainder of the wickets soon fell for a total of 272, Burton *(49) being the highest scorer of the remaining batsmen. Carlton took 4 wickets for 73, 'Shepherd 3 for 19. Otago’s second innings produced 188 (McMullan 34, Conradi 30, Siedeberg 26, Duncan 23, Shepherd 21). Bowling analysts.—Barclay 4 wickets for 49 runs, Henderson 3 for 34, MeGirr 2 for 58. Requiring 126 to win, Wellington commenced their second innings. There was a slight drizzle an hour before the drawing of stumps, but the captains decided that, .as Wellington required only 26, play should . continue.
