TARANAKI SOCIETY. MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. . The usual meeting of the general committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. W. B. Grant (president) occupying the chair. The Feilding A. and P. Society wrote suggesting that a uniform rale be adopted for measuring horses competing at shows and asking what practice was adopted by the Taranaki Society. It was decided to reply, stating that the agreement among A. and P. Societies in Taranaki was to allow half an inch for shoes when measuring horses and ponies. REVISING JUDGES’ LIST. The revision of the judges’ list was the subject of a letter received from the Council of Agriculture, and the society was asked to forward names recommended for inclusion in the new judges’ list which is being prepared. It was decided to forward the president’s name for insertion in the list of judges for sheep and pigs; those of G. Sole, P. Sole and B. H. Pigott to light horses, and A. Alexander to the draught horse judges. It was decided to suggest to the Stratford Society that Mr. H. Sparks (Ngaere) be nominated as a judge for draught horses. PROPOSED ROYAL SHOW. The Council of Agriculture advised that replies from various associations were unanimously in favor of the establishment of a Royal Show, but owing to the financial difficulties the Government had notified that their contribution of £5OO must bo postponed till better times. The executive, however, had decided, to proceed with the formation of a Royal Agricultural Society, ( and later breeders would be invited to become members at an annual subscription of £2 2s. GENERAL. Mr. R. H. Pepperell, Waitara, wrote resigning from the membership of the society. It was decided to ask Mr. Pepperell* to reconsider his decision. A sub-committee was set up to recommend stewards for the forthcoming autumn show. . Messrs. L. Wickham (Frankleigh Road), A. Allhusen (Fitzroy), C. R. Bredon (Urenui), E. Lepper (Hillsborough). and A. Grover (Bell Block) were elected members of the society.
