MELBOURNE SENSATION.
A WAVE OF HORROR. ANGRY DEMONSTRATIONS. By Telegraph.—tress Assn.—Copyright. Revived Jan. 6, 7.20 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 6. The murder of the girl Tirschke, who was found in a side street in the city strangled and outraged, has produced a wave of horror. Rumors that three men had been detained caused a great crowd to gather in the vicinity where the body was found, and in order to control the angry demonstration, which continued for hours while the men were under examination, it became necessary to employ a large body of mounted police. A report that one of the men was still inside led to attempts to break the cordon, and there were shouts of “Bring him out” and ‘Tull the place down”. The demonstrations continued until late at night. The detainees satisfied the police and were released. —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Jan. 6, 9.35. p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 6.
