SEIZURE OF OPIUM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Jan. 5. A smart capture was effected by the 'local police to-day, involving the seizure of seven tins of opium. On the arrival of the Auckland express the police searched the persons and effects pf three Chinese passengers and discovered the opium secreted in a bundle of soiled linen in the portmanteau of Wong Yin, an Auckland laundryman travelling to Wellington. Yin was brought before the court and remanded until Monday on £2OO bail.
