WEDDINGS.
The marriage t place in the Whiteley Church, New Plymouth, yesterday afternoon of Miss Evelyn Short, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Short, of Vogeltown, to Mr. Walter Wilkie, a I member of the staff of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School, and only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Wilkie, of Vogeltown. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. J. Elliott. The bride was attired in a charming frock of ivory crepe de chine and lace, and carried a bouquet of cactus dahlias, Irish heath, maidenhair and asparagus. She was given away by her father and was attended by her sisters, Misses Winnie and Loie, who wore dresses of champagne crepe de chine and blue chariqeuse, respectively. Each carried bouquets. Mr. Allen Horn blow, of Wellington, cousin of the bridegroom, acted as best man, and Mr. Noel Ellerm. of New Plymouth," also a cousin of the bridegroom, was groomsman. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold bangle, and to the bridesmaids a brooch and pendant. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a posket wallet. Numerous presents received testified to the esteem in which the contracting parties are held by many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wilkie left by the afternoon train en route to Nelson, where the honeymoon will be spent, prior to their taking up residence in New Plymouth. There was a gathering of a number of friends at the home of the bride’s parents, where a pleasant time was passed with games and music. OGLE—MARSH. A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Presbyterian Church, Hawera, on November *3O, when Miss Esther Marsh,eldest daughter of Mrs. G. Travis and the late Mr. E. H. Marsh, was married to Mr. Musgrave Ogle, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ogle, both of Hawera. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Murray, with Miss Barker officiating at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. G. Travis, was attired in a charming frock of ivory crepe-de-chine trimmed with silver lace, and wore the usual veil and orange blossoms and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Lillian Ogle, sister of the bridgeroom, and Miss Molly Marsh, sister of the bride, the former being smartly frocked in vieux rose , crepe-de-chine. Both wore black picture . hats and carried bouquets in tone with I their frocks. The bridegroom was atI tended by Mr. G. Alexander as best man 1 and Mr. R. C. Tanfield as groomsman. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a dainty gold brooch set with pearls, and to each of the bridesmaids a pair of beautiful silver vases.
