Messrs. M. -1. Eliott, Ltd. (Palmerston North), have received cabled advice from Messrs. Gilbert Anderson and Co., Ltd., of the following prices on Smithfield market for the week ended December 31:—
Canterbury lamb, under 361 b, 7§d per lb; 421 b to 501 b, 7-Jd.
Best North Island lambs, under 361 b, 7Jd. Ordinary North Island lamb, under 361 b, 7.id. Canterbury wethers and maiden ewes, 641 b to 721 b, sd.
Best North Island wethers and maiden ewes, 561 b to 641 b, 5%d. Ordinary North Island wethers and m'aiden ewes, 481 b to 561 b, 5Jd; 561 b to 641 b, North Island ewes, 481 b to 641 b, 4jd. N.Z. prime beef (equal fores and hinds), 4’<d.
Remarks. —Cow and bull beef, normal value, fores *2id to 3d; hinds, 4d to 414. Mutton and lamb show rises from id to id per lb. The above, prices are on a delivered basis.
