AUSTRALIAN CRICKET. VICTORIA v. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press As»n.—Copyright. Received Jan. 4, 10.10 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 4. The weather was fine and the wicket good. South Australia, in their second innings, made 351 (Townsend 34, Smith 122, Loveridge 94, Williams 33). Bowling analysis: Hartkoff three for 45, McDonald three for 78, Liddicutt three for 79. Victoria, in their second innings, have four wickets down for 97 (Park 33, Sandford 39). Victoria won by six wickets. The Liveridge and Smith partnership, which commenced when tne situation was critical for South Australia, by sound cricket, added 162 runs. Smith was at the wickets for 318 minutes and hit nine fours. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE AUSTRALIAN TOUR. DISTRIBUTION OF PROFITS. Received Jan. 4, 10.10 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 4. It was announced at a meeting of the Cricket Board of Control that the profits from the tour of the Australian eleven amounted to £17,700. It was decided to pay a bonus of £3OO to Mr. Sydney Smith (the manager) and each member of the team, and £lOO to «Ferguson, the scorer, £lO,OOO to be equally distributed among the six States represented on the Board of Control. — Aus.-NZ. TOWN JUNIORS v. COUNTRY JUNIORS. On Saturday next the town juniors will play the country juniors at Western Park at 2 p.m. The teams will he selected by Mr. Fowler (Waitara) and Mr. C. O. Berg (Town). The town team is as follows —Kinsella, Oliver, Trevaila (New Plymouth), G. Carey, T. Carey, Cameron, Fitzpatrick (Harbor Board), Dickson, Loveridge (Technical). Berg (Western Park), Hawkins (Old Boys). Emergencies Bullot, Harrison (Western Park), Bowers (New Plymouth). HAWERA v. PATEA, At Hawera on Tuesday the Hawera. Wednesday team was defeated b£ Patea by one run. Patea made 103 and R 1 and Hawera 130 and 53. It wa4 thought when the last wicket fell that the game was drawn, but the Hawera store book shows the above figures, so that Patea won by one wicket. For Hawera the most successful batsmen were Oakes 4G, Worrall 21 and Davis 20. For Patea Cunningham made 23, Weir 18 and Sawers 17.
