TIMARU FARMERS AVERSE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. A large meeting of farmers and others interested in the meat trade considered the Government’s pool proposals. After full discussion, a motion was moved approving the scheme, but was lost by 45 votes to 53. HAWKE’S BAY’S ATTITUDE. Hastings, Last Night. The president of the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society states he has been* advised that the resolution passed at the meat pool meeting at Hastings, and made the subject of a Press Association telegram last Friday, lias been interpreted as meaning that the meeting was in favor of the meat pool scheme put forward by the Government. He states that such is not the case; the meeting generally was adverse to a compulsory meat pool and State control but was prepared to consider any voluntary pooling scheme under which the producer would sell and market his stock in any way he may think fit. OPPOSITION AT TIMARU. Timaru, Last Night. A large meeting thia morning discussed the meat pool scheme. A motion expressing approval of the scheme was lost by 54 votes to 45.
