A FATAL FIRE.

WAVERLEY RESIDENT LOSES HIS LIFE. An alarm of fire was sounded at Waverley at 1.45 a.m. on Monday when it was discovered that a house near the Public School was on fire. The fire brigade were quickly on the scene, but could do practically nothing, as the house was a seething mass of flames before they ir - i ived. It was known that Mrs Reardon was away in Stratford for the holidays with the two children, but nothing was known of the whereabouts of Mr. Reardon at the time of the fire. A search of the debris, however, resulted in the charred portions of his body being found. An enquiry was held, and the Coroner found that deceased met his death through his house being burnt down, though how the fire originated there was no evidence to show.
