FOUR-POWER TREATY.
EXCLUDING JAPAN’S HOMELAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 29, 11.5 p.m. Washington, Dec. 29. It is understood inhere will be an ex•change of Notes between the United States and Japan excluding the homeland of Japan from the operations of the Four Power Treaty. Developments in both countries since the signing of the treaty have convinced the respective administrations that there is strong sentiment against inclusion. It is understood China will be given an effective 5 per cent, cent tariff only amounting to about seven and a half, with a. proviso that when the likin is abolished this will be raised to twelve and a half per cent. —Aus.-N.Z.
