INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own. Correspondent.) December 28. Grey! absolutely grey! a watery, dreary, depressing grey, was t-hel condition of Inglewood for the Christmas of 1921. We would have been jolly if we could, and even as jolly as climatic circumstances would permit, but nothing, so far, has happened to enliven our gloom. Our “sports” were baulked of their fun on Monday, as also were the several family picnic parties who had cooked and prepared elaborately for the occasion. Nothing of real moment has occurred amongst us. We are here still, each and all doing our daily routine of tasks, and hoping for any improvement the fates may provide. But we are not downhearted; not by a long chalk! We have seen worse times before, and weathered them, and wo are going to come out on top again. As a contrast to the general gloom it will possibly come in the form of an agreeable surprise to learn that an old, valued and much respected resident of Inglewood, and formerly of the Ngatimaru district, Mr. Herman Sander, was married on Tuesday, the 27th insrt., at New Plymouth, and. with his bride returned northward to the Auckland district without delay. The wedding was a quiet one, by the wish of the contracting parties, but that they have the very hearty good wishes of all their old acquaintances here it is well to assure them. All who know them wish them prosperity and happiness and declare that they deserve it.
