(From Our Own Correspondent.) Dec. 23. The annual children’s service in connection with the Kaponga Childrens Bible Class’ was held in the Kaponga Town Hall on Sunday last. The class, which meets weekly in the Methodist Churcli after school, is undenominational and is attended by most of the school children. At the " service on Sunday books were presented, to the children by the Rev. L. B. Neale, of Stratford, who, in a forceful address, urged the parents to support, the ideals for which the Bible Class stood. Apologies for absence were received from the Revs C. Palmer and G. Simister, also Mr. R. Masters, M.P. Master Roy Jones won the prize .for the best essay on the parable of the Prodigal Son. A very pleasing part of the service was the presentation to Mrs. Avery, organist for the class, of a copy of Arthur Mee’s “Treasure Island,” by the children. The service was largely attended by parents and friends of the children. At the close, the Rev. W. Avery, leader of the class, presented each member with a copy of the New Testament as a memento of the year’s work. A similar service to the above was held at Rowan Public Hall at 1 p.m. on the same day, when books were presented by the Rev. L. B. Neale to the Rowan Bible ‘Class. Haymaking is in full swing in the district, the farmers taking advantage of the warm, dry weather to secure a supply of winter feed.
