CHILDREN IN CINEMAS.

LONDON By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Dec. 22. The cinema industry is rebelling against the fiat of the London County Council that boys and girls under the age of 16 years shall not be permitted in cinemas without their parents or guardians unless the programme has been passed in its entirety for universal exhibition. At present only 30 per cent, of the films receive a universal certificate, the remainder an adult certificate only and unaccompanied boys and girls will be barred from these after January 7 next. The trade complains that the council is utilising an Act of George 11., which was aimed at the prevention of thefts and robberies.
