TAILORS’ AWARD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Dec. 20. Mr. Justice Frazer gave an award to the tailoresses and other trade employees affecting the whole of New Zealand. This generally follows the existing award, but wages are brought into line with those granted in recent awards to kindred trades. Oilers are provided for for the first time. The scope of the award is for two years. Pressing log conditions are altered to read: “At the rates below, with the addition of 42i per eent.” Minimum wages: Journeywomen, £2 per week, with a bonus of 5s a week, male machinists a minimum of £3 17s per week, Is 9d an hour, and a bonus of 3d per hour; second-class chart cutter, £4 0s 8d per week, Is lOd per hour; stock cutter and trimmer, £3 17s 0d and Is 9d; examiner*i«n charge of the finishing room, £3 17s and Is 9d and a bonus of 3d; apprentices for cutting and trimming, per week, first six months £l, second 235, third 265; fourth 295, fifth 325, sixth 355, seventh 40s eighth 455, ninth 50s, tenth 555. Pressers and oilers at the option of the employer, either at the minimum wage of £3 17s or Is 9d per hour. Clothing oilers, the minimum prescribed for pressers, with a bonus of threepence. Casual workers not less than 2s 3d per hour. The overtime clause of the old award applies to pressers and clothing oilers with the addition that piece workers are paid rate and a half. The wages for apprentices begin at 255, with increases of 5s every six months to £2, and next year are increased by £l.
