LAWN TENNIS.

KAPONGA v. OPUNAKE. (From Oui Own Correspondent.) On Saturday afternoon the local tennis courts were occupied with a match between Opunake and the local club. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent by all present, victory going to the visitors by a margin of 7 sets and 29 games. At the conclusion of the afternoon’s play Mr. W. B. Fearon, president of the Kaponga Club, expressed the pleasure it had been to have the visit from the Opunake Club. The local club would, in the near future, go to Opunake for the return match. Mr. Higgins, of the Opunake Club, expressed on behalf of the team, his thanks for ths president’s remarks. They had had a most enjoyable afternoon, and would also look forward to the return match. A hearty interchange of cheers brought the u.iieruuons sport to a close. The following are the scores (Kaponga being mentioned first) : ? MEN’S DOUBI.ES, Bell and Des Forges 2 v. On the Eltham tennis courts on Saturday the Eltham Tennis Club won the first competition game of the season by 17 sets to 12., Hawera Park and Manaia Tennis Clubs played at Manaia on Saturday, the match resulting in a win for the Park team by 14 gets to Manaia’s 5 sets.
