The second match for the Heathcote-Wil-liams Shield commenced to-day between Ctristehurch and Palmerston North Boys’ High Schools. Palmerston (holders) made 203 in their first innings, and Christchurch have lost one wicket for 95. SOUTH TARANAKI PLAY. SATURDAY’S MATCHES. At Hawera on Saturday the Eltham seniors defeated Excelsior by 10 runs on the first Innings. Midlands were decisively beaeen by Manaia, owing mainly to a very stylish innings by Maunsell, who played sterling cricket for his total of 76. For Midlands Oakes played a very good though iucky innings of 47, and with Worrall put on 50 for the fifth wicket. Worrall, for Midlands, was in fine bowling form, and secured the excellent total of eight wickets for 45, while Stewart, a recent acquisition to the Manaia team, was very destructive, taking six wickets for the small total of 10 runs. iponga journeyed to Okalawa, and, Whining the toss, sent the local side in. Okaiawa opened disastrously, Mair bowling three batsmen in the opening over, and the innings closed for 47. Kaponga got a lead of six runs on the first innings, but the Okalawa batsmen retrieved their position in their second strike, and quickly knocked up 100 runs, when the innings was declared closed. Kaponga made a poor stand in their second innings, Okaiawa getting a three-point win by 60 runs. TOWN v. COUNTRY. With a view of assisting the selectors of the representative team to select a team to represent North Taranaki, the following teams have been chosen for a match town versus country, to be played on the Racecourse on Saturday next (any player unable to take part to advise the secretary at once) : Town.—Robertson, Halley, R. B. Macdonald, Osborne, Bewley, Cottrill, Papps, Eggleton, P. Palmer, C. Lash, Nieoll, Clarke, Stainton. Country.—Gibson, Coutts, Kingston, Ross, Wilkins, Colman, Blundell, T. O'Neill, P. Sarten, W.
