INGLEWOOD.

NORFOLK ROAD SCHOOL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual school concert and dance at Norfolk Road on Friday last was a decided success, in spite of the stormy weather. The object of the function was to raise funds for school prizes, and it is pleasant to learn that some £l4 was taken. The following programme’ was gone through:—Overture, Eileen Kendrick; “Wyoming Lullaby,” junior girls and chorus (encored) ; “Colleen Song,” junior girls (encored); “Policeman Song,” senior boys (encored); recitation, “A Boy’s Lament,” Ernest Davis, with “A Brave Boy” for encore; duet and dance, Beryl Egarr. Nellie Davjs and Miss Fugle; song, “Ching, Chong,” junior boys and chorus (encored); ribbon drill, senior girls (very enthusiastically encored); recitation, “Yawcob Strauss,” Douglas Jones, with “Der Baby” for encore; flower song with chorus (encored), junior girls; dumb-bell drill, senior boys; recitation, “The Gingerbread Man,” Jack Wisnewski, with encore “I’d Like to Go to Fairyland”; solo (encored), Beryl Egarr; sweep song, senior boys; song and dance, “Peggy O’Neill,” Beryl Egarr and junior girls; song, “By-low-town,” all the pupils (encored). The audience joined in the National Anthem as the windup of the concert. Mr. Davis thanked all present for being there to hearten up the performers and their instructors, at the same time complimenting them on the pluck they had shown by turning up on such a rough night. He congratulated, and, on behalf of the parents and pupils, thanked the teaching staff of the school for the very successful entertainment they had provided, as well as the year’s good work done in the school. The inspector’s report for the year, he said was one of the best that the school had ever received. He then announced that the annual prize-giving would take place on Friday, the 16th, and invited all parents who could attend to be present for a picnic luncheon, not forgetting the tucker baskets. The prizes were to be presented after lunch. Then followed the dance and supper, a most satisfactory function, mostly contributed. Miss Hogan provided the music for the dance, which was. apparently thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. Miss Fugh, assistant teacher, was the accompanist for the concert, as well as the designer of the-dresses, and deserves great credit for the complete success of her efforts in both branches. The ribbon drill, by the senior girls, was especially pleasing.
