WESTOWN SIDE SCHOOL.

BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. THE PRIZE LIST. The breaking-tip ceremony in connection with the Westown side school (of Frankley) took place in the Westown hall yesterday afternoon, when, theje was a good attendance of parents. Mr. F. A. Lee (chairman of the Frankley committee) presided, and Mr. W. H. a member of the committee, was also present. At the outset a short musical programme was rendered, comprising pianoforte solo by Miss Warren; song, “Indiana,” school children; recitation, “Something Unusual,” M. Morrison; song, “Lazy Missisippi,” Doreen Lobb; recitation, “Good Morning,” Bruce Reid; recitation, “Everybody’s Bedtime,” Dorothy Geddes; song, “Everybody Calls Me Honey,” Loris Kakui; recitation, “The Union Jack,” Leslie Warr. The two singers were presented with bouquets by the children.'

Mr. A. V. Simms, headmaster of the Frankley School, then read the inspec- . tor’s report, showing that the school was in a high state of efficiency. He also took the opportunity of expressing his appreciation of the excellent work done by the teachers of the school (Misses Warren and Mouatt). A special feature of the school was the good, attendance of the pupils, quite a number having gained full attendance prizes, whilst others had missed by narrow margins. He then presented the prizes, every child receiving a prize. Mr. Sims remarked that as the school only went up to standard 3, the head of that standard might be designated the dux of the school. Garcia. on behalf of the parents, expressed appreciation of the work of the teacho.-. which was carried on under t-rying conditions owing to the unsuitability of the hall for school purposes. Afternoon tea. provided by the ladies of the district, was then dispensed, and after three hearty cheers had been given for the teachers, the singing of the National Anthem concluded the function.
