SOME SANE LABORITES.
MINERS’ STRIKE OPPOSED. GENERAL SUPPORT REFUSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The executive of the Miners’ Federation is still discussing the situation arising out of the strike of miners, and up to the present no statement has been made regarding its decisions. Mr. Mack (president of the Alliance of Labor) recently denied that the men acted under instructions of the alliance. From inquiries made since Mr. Mack made his statement, it would appear that the miners acted purely on instructions from their own organisation, and not from the Alliance of Labor. It is understood that at the recent confer ence of the Alliance of Labor the representatives of the Miners’ Federation besought the support of the alliance in the event of a strike, but that some members of the alliance were opposed to anything in the nature of an industrial upheaval at the present time, ovfing to the adverse economic conditions.
