N.S.W. POLITICS.
GOVERNMENT IN MINORITY. THE PREMIER RESIGNS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 13, 10 p.m. / Sydney, Dec. 13. Mr. Simon Hickey, Labor member for Botany, has been elected Speaker, leaving the state of parties: Government, 44; Opposition, 45. Received Dec. 13, 10.5 p.m. Sydney, Dec. 13. After Mr. Hickey was elected Speaker the Assembly adjourned until eight o’clock, when it reassembled. Mr. Dooley (the Premier) stated that he had tendered certain advice to the Governor, which was not accepted, and Mr. Dooley therefore tendered his resignation, and advised the Governor to send for Mr. Fuller. The House then adjourned until Wednesday. It is believed Mr. Fuller will accept the Governor’s commission to form a Ministry, and the Speaker will then resign. As it is improbable that any Coalition Government will be able to secure a Speaker from the Labor Party, Mr. Fuller will be in the same position as Mr. Dooley, and will ask the Governor for a dissolution.
