Thousands of Indians strolled along the route on Sunday gazing at the elaborate decoration, but remained in the bazaars next morning. In conformity with the order for a general hartal, issued by Ghandist agitators, cabs were withdrawn from the streets and the general transport service reduced, but there was not the slightest disorder anywhere, simply tactic avoidance of the district through which the Prince passed. Nevertheless, he had an enthusiastic greeting from other elements of the population. The Prince dispensed with ceremonial throughout the day, visiting the University and Law Courts and departed after * dinner for Benares. He goes thence to Nepaul for big game shooting.
