FOUR MEN BURIED. HEROIC RESCUE WORK. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 13, 11.25 p.m. Sydney, Dec. 13. A fall of coal at the Stanford Merthyr colliery, near Kurri Kurri, buried four men —Robert Irving, Ezra Rawlings, Meredith Williams and Reginald Tucker. Irving was working in the tops, when a fall in the tops occurred, entombing him. The other three rushed to his rescue, attempting to extricate him, when they were buried by a second fall. After heroic work in the danger zone miners recovered the entombed men, when it was found that Irving was dead and the other three seriously injured.
