WAITARA.
HARBOR BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) December 13. The monthly meeting of the Harbor Board was held on Friday last. In the absence of Mr. Hine, Mr. Nosworthy presided. The Secretary of the Marine Department, in a circular letter, wrote requesting in view of the proposed consolidating Harbors Act, that the Board, if necessary, submit an amended schedule in connection with its district and constitution. The chairman explained that the schedule in the Act defined the membership, and in cases where wards exist, circumstances have so changed in many districts that an alteration is necessary, but in the case of Waitara there was no reason for any alteration. Mr. I. Evans asked for a reduction in rent in connection with a block of land held by him. The matter was held over to a full meeting. Mr. T. Ratten - burv was the successful tenderer foi shrngle rights the tenders' being: Eastern Beach £l5, Western Beach A request from the Seaside and Si.fi Bathing Society for a donation o empty bags for protection work at their sheds was acceded to. The action of the works committee in giving permission to the. Seaside and Surf Bathing Society to protect the foreshore from sea erosion <vas confirmed.
