HAMILTON MARKETS. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At Hamilton on Thursday, December 8, our yarding was below the average of recent sales. Beef w(is slightly better than the previous week and was all disposed of at auction. Best steers realised from £6 10s to £7 15s, cows best £3 5s to £4 14s, lighter weights £2 to £2 15a, fresh conditioned 3Cs to £2. The number of store cattle yarded was very small and competition dull. Store cows made from 15s to 30s, yearling steers 20s, yearling Jersey heifers (well bred) £lO, bulls £2 5s to £3 ss, acccrdnig to quality. Sheep met with improved demand due largely no doubt to short supply. The yarding was all of plain quality. Wethers made to 10s Gd, lighter ewes 7s 9d. Fat pigs were again plentiful and did not draw much competition. Store pigs on the other hand sold fairly well. Baconers made from £2 8s to £2 17s, porkers 30s to 38s, slips (good) 25s to 325, others 15s to 20s, weaners 5s to 12s 6d. NEWTON KING LTD. REPORT. At Stony River on the 6th inst., 15-month steers showed l a sharp advance, other classes remaining at recent levels. Store pigs 25s to 275, porkers 345, 15-month steers 14s 6d to 27s fid, store/cows 17s fid, fat do £3 12s 6d to £4 2s 6d, 15-month heifers £2 7s Gd, springing heifers £.14, cows in profit £lO, ewes and lambs 12s, woolly hoggets 13s. At Inglewood on the same dhy we conducted a sale of dairy cattle on behalf of Mr. R. IH. Phillips, and report a good attendance of buyers resulting in \a satisfactory clearance being made. Prices for both heifers and cows ranged very high considering the present depressed state of the dairy market. Springing heifers £9 to £l5 10s, heifers calved £6 to £6 10s, better quality do £8 to £9 10s, springing cows £lO to £l2, choicer classes £l3 10s to £l4 10s, cows in profit £8 to £9 10s. At Waiwakaiho on December 8, although only a small yarding we report a very bright sale with improved prices for all classes. A full clearance was made. Store cows 29s to £2, very small yearling steers 12s, fresh conditioned 2-year-old do £2 10s, 15-month empty heifers £2 10s to £3 17s Gd, do r.w.b. £2 10s, 2-year Jersey do £7, springing heifers £5 10s, springing cows £9 10s to £ll 15s, Jersey bull £6, Ayrshire do £2 10s. Prices were on a par with late rates. Fat cows unade £5 12s Gd to £5, forward cows £2 10s to £3 ss, old cows 20s to 355, bulls £2 to £4, two-year steers £2 Is, yearlings to 27s Gd, Jersey cross yearling heifers to £5, Shorthorn ditto £3 ss, small 35s to £2 2s 6d, store pigs £2, slips 345. At Stratford on Tuesday fat cows made £4 5s to £4 15s, forward cows £2 to £2 10s, boners late rates, Jersey cross yearlings £4 16s to £5 10s, Holstein £2 16s, Shorthorns £2 5s to £2 15s. On the same day at Manaia best fat and forward cows £2 15s to £3 4s, good cows £2 to £2 10s, works cows £1 to 355, works bulls 30s to £2 10s, yearling steers 235, Shorthorn 15-month heifers £2 17s, dairy cows £B.
