LOURDES PILGRIMS CURED.

SHRINE SCENE OF EXCITEMENT. Paris, August 1. Two “miracles” are reported from the great pilgrimage centre of Lourdes as having taken place in the past w*eek. Both, the report adds, have been certified by Dr. Marchand, head of the medical bureau of the famous shrine, and both women who have been miraculously cured have been able to return to their homes in perfect health. The miracles they describe, occurred during the great pilgrimage from six dioceses of France to the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. Thousands, of ailing pilgrims with their relatives and friends have gathered during the last week at the famous wells below the Pyrenees, and in every heart the hope has burned high that perhaps to them Our Lady would show the charity of healing. But that happiness has been so far reserved for only the two women, Mlle. Suzanne Warcoin, of Hamm, and Mlle. Emiline Roein, of Treves. Both were cured on the same day, which is an unusual event in the history of Lourdes.

The first of the two women was suffering, according to medical certificates, from ulceration of the stomach and pain in the hip. With much difficulty and pain she had been brought almost the whole length of France by her friends to try the miracle cure of Lourdes.

Their local priest was with the party, and a scene of extraordinary religious enthusiasm took place when, having entered the bath, the woman suddenly called in a loud voice that she was cured.

All other sick people in the reputed healing waters over which Our Lady of Lourdes presides, crowded around to hear the wonderful news, and scarcely had the excitement following the miracle cure subsided before news of another came.

The second woman had not even entered the hole. For years she had suffered from anthritis in the knee joint and had been unable to stand. In a chair she was being carried along in the procession, when suddenly she astonished everyone by rising up and stepping from the chair.

She walked freely with the others all the way to the shrine. There the two women who had been cured met, and, going together to the medical bureau, were pronounced completely cured.
