NOVEL METHODS OF OOERCIC By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlgl , Received Dec. 9, 5.5 p.m. London. Dec. 8. A novel method of calling attention to claims Was adopted by the Bexley unemployed, who raided the council during a discussion on Government schemes for alleviation and demanded that they should be dropped and that an alternative scheme of paying district union rates, which are higher than the Government’s, be adopted. The councillors refused and the unemployed thereupon took possession of the chamber and locked up the councillors, who were not released till seven o’clock next morning. They were compelled throughout the. night to listen to fiery speeches. During the early hourg they agreed th;., x joint deputation should approach the Minister and request him ti> authorise a union.—United Service.
