DEFENCE OF B.A.W.R.A. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. — ConyrigLMelbourne, Dec. 8. Sir John Higgins has received' a statement from Sir Arthur Goldfinch replying to the allegations that Bawra withheld wool from the market in Arder to raise the prices. It was stated that the quantities offered in England, Antwerp and Australia, from September 29 to December 2, were in excess of the normal offerings. Referring to prices, he said crossbred wool was lower than at any time during the ten years preceding the war. The average price of raw wool was less than one-third the price ruling IS months ago.
