KAPONGA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Wednesday, November 30, a lecture, under the auspices of the Farmers’ Union, was given in the Oddfellows’ Hall by Mr. Gorringe, of the Agricultural Department. , The subject “Pig-raising” was one that should appeal to every farmer, and it is safe to say that those farmers who were not present—and there were many such — were the losers thereby. Wonderful, indeed, is the apathy of many farmers to the latest developments of their own business. A paternal Government sends an expert to lecture on a subject that, he knows, from A to Z, and he is greeted with only a fair attendance. Next lecture, Mr. Farmers’ Union, charge five shillings for admission and note the difference! On the motion of the chairman Mr. D. Malone, the speaker, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
