Zaghlul Pasha, interviewed by the Matin representative, said the document just published established Britain’s will to maintain her sovereignty over Egypt and make the prospects of an understanding impossible. Lord Curzon’s plan was equivalent to annexation. Lord Allenby’s Note constituted a violation of all rights and promises. It was certain that Egypt’s unity would soon be demonstrated in a striking manner. They intended to pursue their objective by all legitimate means.
