STRIKE TACTICS FAIL NORTHERN MINERS AT WORK. OTHER MINES RESUME. By T»Jecraph.—Press Association Auckland, Last Night. Important developments in connection with the strike have occurred at the mines in the Auckland province. The most notable incident was the decision of the men at the Taup .1 Coal Compay’s Rotowaro mine, who joined the strike last Friday,, to go back to work to-morrow. The decision was reached as the result of two meetings, one at Rotowaro this morning, and the other at Huntly in the afternoon. At each place the voting showed a large majority in favor of resumption, the Rotowaro figures, if is stated, being 40 to 4, while the combined voting disclosed a three to one majority. The men at the Taupiri Extended mine did not cease work. They decided on Sunday <by SO votes to 62 not to strike at present. The Pukemiro miners. who stopped work last week, are holding another meeting this evening, and it is stated there are grounds for believing the men will follow the lead given bv the Taupiri employees. The Hikurangi Coal Company’s mine and Wlilson’s Portland Cement Company’s mine at Hikurangi were idle today’. It is reported the men held meet- | i ings on Sunday, when they decided to | cease work. SOUTHERN MEN STRIKE. Invercargill, Last Night. The miners at the Nightcaps, Coaldale, New Brighton, Dixon’s and Mossbank mines ceased work this morning without warning. The owners do not anticipate a long strike. MILLERTON RESUME. Dunedin, Dec. 5. The Westport Company’s Millerton mine resumed work to-day. As the result of a vote taken yesterday the majority was twenty in favor of that course. WESTPORT MEN CONTINUE WORK. Westport, Last Night.
