RAISING OF PIGS.

AN INSTRUCTIVE ADDRESS. The raising of pigs was the subject of an interesting and , instructive lecture delivered at the Omata Hall last night by Mr. K. W. Gorringe, of the Government Agricultural Department, and an acknowledged expert in the subject. There was a fair attendance, and Mr. J. A. Kurth was voted to the chair. Mr. Gorringe said that there were 34 branches to the subject, but he would only be able to deal with seven or eight at the time at his disposal. He dealt in turn with the present shortage of pigs in the Dominion, the prospect of obtaining a market, and the money that there was in pigs as compared with cows, supplying figures in support of his contentions. Lhen he traversed the proper system of housing, feeding ap'd the general arrangements in connection with the business and* the methods of obtaining good “porkers’ and respectively. At the conclusion of the address numerous questions were asked and answered, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Gorringe for his address. A full account of the lecture is held over.
