PLAGUE OUTBREAK.
SYDNEY PATIENT DEAD, ANOTHER CASE OCCURS. ENFORCING PRECAUTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Received Dec. 5, 12.5 a.m. Sydney, Dec. 4. The first plague patient, whose name is Maher, is dead. The Sussex Street premises where he was employed have been thoroughly overhauled. A few rats were caught, but none were infected with plague. A second well-developed case has been sent to hospital from Sussex Street premises, a considerable distance from the first discovery. The authorities regard thia as proof that the infected rats are wider spread than thought. Stfeps are being taken for ibe strict enforcement of the precautions operating in Queensland and other States.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. PRECAUTIONS AGAINST SPREAD.
