It is reported from Constantinople that Turkish troops entered Adana on November 29. Over 20,000 ,Christians, fearing to trust themselves to the mercy of the Kemalists. fled before their arrival. KEMALISTS GRANT SAFEGUARDS. Paris, Dec. 1. The Kemalists have signed an agreement granting necessary safeguards to Christians in Silicia, abrogating’• the law confiscating 40 per cent, of property, postponing the enforcement of service, ad establishing a Franco-Turkish commission to safeguard property of re v The arrival of French in the principal towns of Silicia has considerably allayed alarm. Many Christians are returning to their homes. —Reuter. PLIGHT OF ARMENIANS. Alexandria, Dec. 1. There is a strange deadlock regarding 348 Armenian refugees on board a French steamer which has arrived from Silicia. They were refused permission to land and they are unwilling to leave on the French boat, fearing to return to Silicia. They drew revolvers and threatened the crew and hindered the work of lhe engine-room. The matter is in the hands of the French authorities. The Armenians declare they will remain on the shift, for ever more in the harbor unless they are enabled to) leave on a ship not controlled by the french.
