ARBUCKLE’S SUSPENSE.
JURY CONSIDERING VERDICT. A LENGTHY DISCUSSION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Received Dec. 4, 5.5 p.m. San Francisco, Dec. 2. The Arbuckle case went to the jury at 4.15 p.m., and the jury was locked up. Arbuckle displayed nervousness during the closing hours of counsel’s argument, making innumerable paper balls. The jury has been out twenty hours and is still undecided. Mr. Gavin McNab, Arbuckle’s chief counsel, concluded his argument by arraigning the State for failing to bring out any definite detailed statement of Miss Rappe explaining the injury; also for failure to call Delmont, who lodged the complaint. Arbuckle’s attorney revealed that the comedian has received threats to assassinate him if he is acquitted. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A WITNESS POISONED. San Francisco, Dec. 1. The defence in the Arbuckle case announced that Miss Anne Morgan, nurse., who testified she had previously seen Miss Rappe when ill tear her clothes off, is now iying at death’s door suffering from the effects of poison. How this was administered was unknown. Counsel added that the State had attempted to intimidate Morgan, declaring that if she came to San Francisco to testify, her career would be ruined.
