AG AIN VICTORIOUS. pHE hill climb from Aoste to the top of the Great Saint Bernard Pass is appropriately named the Championship of rhe Mountain. The altitude reached is 8200 feet above sea level, and the distance covered is 19 miles, all of it constituting steady climbing amidst the most wildly gorgeous scenery to be found in the Italian Alps. Needless to say,, ootl; men and machines are subjected to a test of no ordinary severity. This year's climb attracted unusual attention, and was witnessed by tne Prince of Udine and large ncimbe , 's of sportsmen and officials from Switzerland and Italy. The motor industry generally gave its full support to the event, among the cars starting in the climb being Peugeot. Fiat Star, Itala, Mercedes, Buick.. Lancia, Chiribiri Prince, Diatto, Bugatti, Bianchi, Fast. Alf Romeo and Aquila. In the touring car section the fastest time of the day, irrespective of piston displacement, was made by Ruggeri on a 10-15 h.p. FIAT of less than 1500 cc.. his time for the climb being 47min. 16 seconds. This is really a remarkable performance in view of the small piston displacement of the engine, compared with that of some other competitors. And the little “FIAT” beat the time of the winners of tha bigger car sections, which were. 3000 c.c. Class Winner.. Itala, 51 min. 36secs. 4500 c.c. Class Winner, Mercedes, 47min. 17 secs. There’s high quality, wonderful economy, and great endurance built into “FIATS.” WILSON’S MOTOR SUPPLIES, LTD., ELTHAM AND WANGANUI.
