A resident of Taupo writes to the New Zealand Herald: “I notice that some good fish were caught in Lake Rotoiti last week. Sib in weight. Mr. Tizard, fishing from the Tokaanu Wharf a few days ago, caught three very fine fish, weighing 3Mb, 6Jlb, and 10-Mb respectively. They were in splendid condition. The weather has been too rough during the last few days for boating on Lake Taupo. The season promises to be a good one, as the fish are in fine fettle-” The Maoris of Whangaroa are greatly interested in the decision of the Methodist Church to set up memorials of the beginning of Methodist missions in New Zealand 100 years ago. The determination to build a cairn on the very spot where the missionaries started is hailed with enthusiasm. It is understood that they have been asked to be allowed to build the memorial themselves (under suitable oversight) and at their own cost entirely. The Centenary Committee has agreed, and the work will be put in hand. *
