PETROL CONSUMPTION. WORLD’S RECORD ESTABLISHED IN CHRISTCHURCH. On Saturday, November 19, the Pioneer Sports Club held a Petrol test for solo Motor Cycles, open to all makes of machines. Each competitor had to comply wit a the conditions laid down by the Clubs as to weighing of machines, emptying of tank, etc. A given quantity of Motor Spirit was then supplied by the officials and the tanks sealed. Competitors left the corner of Selwyn Street and Hazeldean Road at 2 p.m. and followed a course leading round the foot of the hills, through Moon Bay back to starting point —having to continue on the course until the petrol supplied was exhausted, at which point they had to wait until picked up by the official car, observers being posted at various points on the route to see that conditions were ccmnlied with. The results obtained by the first man C. Bell, of 356 miles per gahon may fairly be claimed as phenomenal, whilst R. H. Parker did 214 miles per gallon. Results such as these prove beyond all .Inubt that the statements win le as to what “Big 'free” Motor Spirit will do are genuine and pan be fulfilled to the very uttermost. Give it an honest opportunity and YOU will get results that will pr ( to your satisfaction that the claims made for “Big Tree” Motor Spirit are only just and reasonable.
