LOAN AND MERCANTILE PROFITS. PAST YEAR'S OPERATIONS. By Telegraph.— -Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Nov. 29. The New Zealand Loan, and Mercantile Agency Company, after transferring £100,009 from the dividend equalisation and reserve fund to the profit and loss account, have a balai- of £83,813, plus £23,491 brought forward. Dividends absorb £90,000, leaving to carry forward £17,305. The report states that In consequence of the great falling off in trade and the heavy depreciation in all the staple commodities of the company’s business, there has been throughout the fields of the company’s operations, especially in New Zealand, great reductions in tie amount of the commissions received, on account of the smaller vojuune and lower values of goods sold. There was a’ heavy fall In the value of stock of merchandise which the company was obliged to hold for its customers’ convenience. Mr. Morgan, . chief inspector for New Zealand, closely investigated the company's securities and business In New Zealand, and made a valuation of the securities there which appears to the directors to be drastic, but they did not think it right in any way to cut down his recommendations. These have been dealt with out of contingent reserves, now not required for the -purposes for which they were originally set aside.—Aus.-N.Z. > Cable Assn. AUSTRALIAN WOOL SALES. Melbourne, Dec. 1. The conference between B.A.W.R.A. and the wool-selling brokers has tentatively fixed 200,000 bales for auction in January, 150,000 iu February and March. The quantities are subject to Teviqw to meet the developments of rhe market. Sydney, Nov. 30. The week’s wool sales closed with a strong demand for fine classes at opening rates. Burry and inferior were weaker with dragging sale. B.A.W.R.A. WOOL SALE. London, Nov. 29. At the B.A.W.R.A. wool sales there was an average selection, with fairly good competition. Yorkshire is most active in combing 1 merinos, the Continent, including Germany, taking a fair quantity of crossbreds. Friday’s prices were maintained.
