SONOMA ROBBERY.
THREE ARRESTS HADE. MASTER MIND MISSING. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright San Francisco, Nov. 29. Three of the Sonoma’s crew are in irons, and a fourth is being sought. Details of the Sonoma robbery are slowly being revealed, and sound like a story from the Arabian Nights. It appears that one member of the Sonoma’s crew had a key of the sail chest in which was kept* rubber hose, of which a 20ft. length was used to hide one portion of the gold. This individual went ashore saying he would return in a few hours. ' The police are now seeking him. Detectives have not relinquished a nation-wide search for the master mind of the robbery, who is believed to be en route to the East. It is thought that when he and the missing member of the crew are caught they, with the three in custody, will form the five who executed the coup. The authorities refuse to give the names of the individuals sought or apprehended. The work of searching the Sonoma continues. No one is now permitted to leave or board the vessel, which is guarded by detectives on all sides. Every bit of the cargo still remaining on the vessel is painstakingly opened and carefully examined. The authorities are convinced that the missing 13,000 dollars will be found on the vessel. The retrieved gold has been safely lodged in the vaults of a local bank.
A -further check shows that approximately 27,600 dollars have been found, and it Is hoped that 85,000 dollars may be found in the container in the water.
