The Australian Press Association understands that while Sir James Craig is obdurate in his refusal to meet Sinn Fein delegates at a conference now he is a party to an arrangement under which the machinery of the conference wih be kept alive and the truce remain unbroken. Mr. E. S. Shortt, K.C. (Home Secretary) speaking at Berwick-on-Tweed, said both South and North Ireland lacked confidence in Britain and each other. He was more sanguine than others that the Government might be able to produce a set of arrangements which would settle the quarrel between Britain and Ireland.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. SINN FEIN CRIMES. A WORKHOUSE BURNED. Received Nov. 29, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 27. In consequence of the decision of the military authorities to quarter troops in Rathkeale Workhouse, County Limerick, which was occupied by the Republican Army, the Sinn Feiners, protesting against the breach of the truce, burned down the building and withdrew. —Aus.-N.Z. The Daily Mirror states that preparations are being made for the publication in London of penny morning and evening papers devoted to Ulster.
