LENGTH OF THE SESSION.
IMPORTANT WORK AHEAD. MAY END BY CHRISTMAS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the House to-night the Premier made a statement regarding the work to be accomplished before the end of the session. Sixteen Bills had been passed, several more were in various stages of completion and there were the following yet to be dealt with:— State Advances Act Amendment Bill, Saving Bank Act Amendment Bill. .Land Agents Bill. Land and Income Tax Act Amend ment Bid. Aid to Public Works Act Amendment Bill, authorising the raising of money for works. Expiring Laws Continuance Bill. Finance Bi2l (providing legislation to give effect to the Government’s economy proposals). Harbors Act Amendment Bill. Discharged Soldiers Settlement Bill Land Bill. Life Insurance Bill. Shops and Offices Act Amendment Bill. Housing Act Amendment BiQi. Two Washing-up Bills. Mr. Massey said it was not possible to say if they could finish before Christmas, but th e matter lay in the hands of members themselves. If they applied themselves to> the work he thought they could get through. They had twenty working days available, including on< Saturday. He was not going to ask for legislation by exhaustion, or that members should «it very late. Mr. Massey added that there were about fifty other measures which had no chance.
