FARMERS’ PROBLEMS.
THE WELLINGTON UNION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Marton, Nov. 25. The Wellington provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union resolved that, in view of the very unsatisfactory position of producers, and the burden of taxation they are bearing, drastic and immediate retrenchment is necessary in every possible direction. The executive endorsed the action of the Dominion president in regard to co-opera-tive shipping to further the handling and marketing of products; also the action of the Agents-General in co-operating to get rid of the accumulated stocks of meat. It recommended that attention should be directed to the handling of meat in England and New Zealand. It was further resolved that all branches be asked to enter a strong protest against any attempt to further increase the protective duties in existence in the Dominion. The executive also decided to get the district-member to introduce a Bill for the abolition of preference to unionists.
