TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Board was held on Wednesday and Thursday, 23rd and 24th inst. Present: Messrs. H. J. Lowe (chairman), 8. Blake,' C. J. Ryan, N. R. Cleland, and J. W. H. Martin. The following applications for land were approved:—H. Y. M’Gahey, section 365, Huatoki settlement; J. J. Larkin, section 335, Huatoki settlement; C. K. Forrester, section 30, block 14, Cape; P. Fahy, sections 14 and 20, block 5, Tangitu; H. Marfell and 8. A. Wells, closed roads, part Native Reserve 1., Grey district. The following applications to transfer were approved:—Section 381, town of Stratford, H. and F. H. Brown to T. section 10, block 2, Ohura, executor of T. H. Bell (deceased), to A. L. and T. H. Bell (conditional) ; allotment 3, part sections 560 and 586-7, town of New Plymouth, and Dingle to E. B. Filby; allotment 4, part section 560-1, town of New Plymouth, Hayden and Dingle to E. B. Filby; allotment 7, sections 562-565, and allotments 9, 10, sections 562-3, 586, 591 town of New Plymouth, Hayden and Dingle to •). S. S. Medley; allotment 7, sections 502-565, town of New Plymouth, J. S. S. Medley to AV. R. Stephens; section 540, town of New Plymouth, C. R. Fairbrother to S. B. Smith; section 80, block 10, Kaupokonui, A. and F. W. Hockly to Mrs. A. E. Radford; lots 2U and 3U, town belt of New Plymouth, F. L. Hartnell to E. Walsh; allotment 1, parts sections 585-6, town belt of New Plymouth, Hayden and Dingle to R. J. Galbraith; section 87, block 4, Paritutu, Joseph Houlahan to James Dale; allotment 2, parts 585-587, town of New Plymouth’ Hayden and Dingle to D. Staunton.
The following transfers were recommended for the Minister’s approval:— Part section 10, block 7, Mapara, L. A. Needham to David Wallace; section 14, block 2, Piopiotea West, John Herlihy to C. H. W. Shortland; sections 8 and 9, 'block 2, Piopiotea West, C. A. Stace to E. L. Christensen.
The application by A. C. Allen for a transfer of section I,'block 4, Piopiotea West, to S. le C. Filleul was refused.
The arbitrator’s award in regard to a renewal of the E.R. Lease of section 32, Tarurutangi district, was received.
Surrenders of the leases of section 9, block 7, Waro, held by George Salt, and section OS, Tawhiwhi settlement, held, by G. T. 'O’Hara-Smith, were accepted. Proposals for the expenditure of thirds by the Ohura County Council were adjourned. The application by C. T. Allingham. for section 20, block 7, Heao, was adjourned. It was resolved not to entertain the suggestion by the Hawera Borough Council that the rentals on. unsold sections in Hawera town b$ reduced. It was resolved to obr,a-u a report on sections 1543, 1544, 1545, 1569, ancL part Reserve O; town of New Plymouth, the lease of which expires on Marell 31, 1922. The following arbitrators were appointed in the matter of the renewal cf the leases of education reserves:—Section 13, block 1, Ngatima.ru, .1. B. Richards; section 3, block 8, Waitara, R. H. Pigott; sections 517, 518, 519, town of New Plymouth, R. Cornwall. The application by J. Martin for a new title over section 2,3, Aria, was approved. It was resolved to allow S. E. C. Taylor to select part section 8, blcu.k 7, Pouatu, for a homestead when the Railway Department takes possession of his present building site. A schedule of sections offered for selection by soldiers, and which still remain unselected, was submitted, and it was resolved to offer them. to the general public at an early date. Proposals for the expenditure of thirds by the Waitomo County Council were approved. It was resolved to recommend the sale of section 25, block 14. Pouatu, to the Whangamomona County Council at a price fixed by the board.
