“THE LAND WE LIVE IN.”
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Mr. Scott’s action in taking advantage of his position as chairman of a recent gathering to make an ass of himself serves the carpenters right. They pay their dues to the loeai union, and stay away. Does Mr, Scott mesmerise them, or is his presence detestable to them? You are, however, hardly fair to the Alliance of Labor. They were not the guests. If a secret vote was taken of those present, the majority would condemn Mr. Scott’s action, a few wouldn’t care, and a small minority of Leninites who love every country but their own would approve. The irony of this mob toasting “The Land Wo Live In,” and they would not defend it I —I am, etc., HENRY DUBB.
