SUPREME COURT.
TARANAKI SESSIONS OPENING NEXT WEEK. A LENGTHY LIST. The next sessions of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth open on Thursday morning. His Honor Mr. Justice Reed will preside. The sitting promises to be a busy one, as a large number of cases have been set down for hearing. Five criminal charges are to be dealt with, and there are seven civil actions to be heard before a jury, two divorce cases, and one claim for the consideration of a special jury, in addition to sixteen other cases. Included in the criminal cases for trial are one of alleged manslaughter and two charges of forgery. Ninety-six common jurors and eight special jurors have been summoned to attend, in addition to the thirty-six for the grand jury. The sessions are expected to last over a fortnight. The list of cases for hearing is: , CRIMINAL. For Trial. Archie Cecil r Hooker, alleged attempting to procure miscarriage. James Albert Officer, alleged manslaughter. Stanley Henry Mercer, alleged forgery. Sydney Norman Fincham, alleged forging and uttering. Herbert Shackleton, alleged indecent assault (two charges). CIVIL. (Before the judge and a jury of 12.) William Francis Spence v. Arthur Clifford Pease; claim for £2500 damages. Edwin Whittle v. William Emeny; claim for damages £5Ol for alleged libel. Alma Olga Terrill v. Allan Robertson; claim for £lO4 3s special damages and £750 for general damages; alleged negligent driving of a motor car. (Before the judge and a jury of 4.) • Ripene v. Rangitaniwha; claim for £496 balance of wages. The Farmers’ Co-op. Society v. William Pattimore Bishop and Lionel Bishop; claim for £471 3s lOd far stock sold. Jesse Simmons v.
