A £16,000 CLAIM.
SHEEP-FARMERS AS INVESTORS. By Telegraph —Press Association. Napier. Last Night. During the hearing of a case in which Frank Harris, of Auckland, is claiming £16,000 from certain directors of the Coromandel Granite Company, one of the directors admitted he was not an expert at quarrying. In reply to His Honor (Mr. Justice Chapman) witness said he was a sheep-farmer. His Honor: They seem to be all sheepfarmers going in for quarrying. Witness: Yes. I think we were mugs. His Honor: They sometimes go in for goldmining, too. Witness: We were all making too much money in those days, and were easy for the cute gentlemen who came round. (Laughter.).
