November 22. ’ The Clifton County Council announces ! that .all vehicles and motor conveyances • plying for hire in the county must be . licensed on or before November 30, otherwise legal action will be taken ■ against offenders. I Mr. W. LI. L. Roberts has been ap- ; pointed to the position of postmaster at Kaponga. Everyone congratulates . Mr. Roberts on his promotion. Local sports are interesting themselves in the formation of a '‘Beach Racj ing Club.” A meeting is being held this week to select the necessary oftii < ers and Committees. No doubt there will be enough support forthcoming to • make it. an annual gathering. Mr. Andrew Weir, our local dairyman, ; whilst getting his Ayrshire bull ready *']i Sunday last for the Stratford Show, j was suddenly attacked by the animal. ; The bull had always been looked upon .as quiet, but whilst Mr. Weir was leadi ing it up a pathway it suddenly turned 'and gored him. Fortunately it push'ed him under a fence, otherwise it is i probable Mr. Weir would have lost his ; life. His cries attracted attention, and when assistance came Mr. Weir was ; found to be suffering from wounds in • the back and arms. His condition ! -‘hows a little improvement to-day. ' The Clifton Lodge of Druids held their ' quarterly meeting on Monday evening, when 23 New Plymouth members paid i visit. After the general business, the i evening was spent in song and recitaand a very enjoyable time was spent.
