THE MEAT MARKET. SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS. Messrs. M. A. Elliott, Ltd. (Palmerston North) have received cable advice from Messrs. Gilbert, Anderson and Co., London, that the following were the Smithfield market prices for the week ending November 19 : Canterbury lamb, under 361 b., 8d per lb.; 361 b. to 421 b., 7%d; 421 b. to 501 b., 7d. Best North Island lamb, under 361 b., 7%d; ordinary North Island lamb, under 361 b., 7%d. Canterbury wethers and maiden ewes, 481 b. to 561 b., 5%d; 641 b. to 721 b., 4 7-Bd. Best North Island wethers and maiden ewes, 561 b. to 641 b., 5%d; ordinary North Island wethers and maiden ewes, 561 b. to 641 b., 5 l-8d; North Island ewes, 481 b. to 641 b., 4&d. New Zealand prime beef, equal fores and hinds, 1601 b. to 2201 b., 4%d. The mutton, lamb, and beef market is in a very critical condition. The prices quoted above are on the delivered basis.
