CAMPAIGN FOR FUNDS. CHILDREN’S DAY. The picnic day for mothers and children, held by the New Plymouth Plunket Society on Saturday, attracted a large attendance to Kawaroa Park, and so successful was this function that it is expected over £lOO will be added to the baby day fund, for which about £350 was raised on Friday. The exact result of Saturday’s takings was not available on Saturday night, as the receipts from various sources have yet to be checked. The day was a particularly favorable one, bright sunshine attracting many people to the seafront, and the society’s workers were kept busy throughout- A large number of the Kawaroa Park Committee rendered very valuable help in connection with the function. Those in charge of the stalls were as follows: — Christmas tree. —Mesdames A. R. Standish, W. C. Weston, and Stuart Russell. Sweets.—Mesdames Quinn and Kenny Soft Drinks.—Misses Hawker, Baily, and Air. A. R. Standish. Toys.—Messrs. Quinn, Kenny and W. C. Welton. Clothing.—Mesdames Ambury and Jenkins. Competitions.—Misses Hawker, Tipladv and Gilbert. Punch and Judy Show.—Mr. L. Smith. The winners of the various competitions were: Trousseau No. 72 (Miss Hawker). —A. Humphries. Trousseau No. 39 (Misses Stanford and Hawker). —A. Pollock. Doll in go-cart No. 1 (Quinn and Kennv). —Al rs. Evans. Dressed doll No. 79 (Gwen Bayly) Ruth Gilray. Doll’s bed and 2 chairs, No. 26 (Miss Hawker).—Mrs. O’Gorman. Doll’s house furnished, No. 13 (Miss Good). —E. Payne. Banjo No. 1 (Aliss Oliver).—Baby Stain ton. Scrap book No. 21 (Miss Wilson). — Rosa Weston. Kewpie doll No. 9 (Miss Grant). Miss Gillespie. Doll’s house No. 30 (Miss Oliver).— Mrs. Wilks. Xmas cake No. 61 (Air. Quinn). Mr. Weston. The result of the second kewpie (Miss Hawker) will be announced in tomorrow’s paper. All unclaimed prizes may be obtained on application from Messrs. Quinn and Kenny, Regal Music Shop.
