To-day’s Derby Cup was the only important handicap this season won by a first favorite, Aymestry beating Willonya by a head. Riverside Fairy was third. Aymestry’s victory was due to a powerful effort by Lynch, who rode Milenko, the winner of the Cambridgeshire Stakes. A romantic feature of Aymestry’s success is the fact that the horse changed hands a few days ago, recalling the parallel case of Caligula, the winner of the 1920 Si. Leger.
